Remote Education: Behaviour For Learning
The learning, progress and engagement of students in each year group is assessed in a variety of ways.
In lessons students will receive written and verbal feedback from their subject teachers. In addition, they will sit subject assessments in class each half term during assessment weeks. These can take the form of written pieces, reading pieces, speaking assessments, tests and practical assessments.
The dates of the assessment weeks for 2025-26 school year are as follows:
Monday 8th – Friday 12th September 2025 (Year 7 CAT Testing)
Monday 6th – Friday 10th October 2025 (Years 9-11)
Monday 24th – Friday 28th November 2025 (Years 7 & 8)
Monday 1st – Friday 5th December 2025 (Year 10)
Monday 5th – Friday 9th January 2026 (Year 9)
Monday 9th – Friday 13th February 2026 (Year 7, 8 & 10)
Monday 4th – Friday 8th May 2026 (Years 7- 10)
Monday 22th – Friday 26th June 2026 (Years 7 – 9)
In Year 7 and Year 9 students will receive a full report. For Year 7 students this is important as a reflection of the transition from primary to secondary school. For Year 9 students, it is an indicator of potential subjects to choose during the Options process.
In Year 11 students will sit two series of Pre-Public Examinations which are designed to give the experience of a rigorous examination timetable.
The dates of the Year 11 PPE’s are as follows:
PPE2: Monday 10th – Friday 21st November 2025
PPE3: Monday 2nd – Friday 13th March 2026
In Year 10 students will sit a series of Pre-Public Examinations which are designed to give the experience of a rigorous examination timetable.
The date of PPE1 is: Thursday 18th – Friday 26th June 2026
Families will be informed of their child’s progress at three key points through the year. For Years 10 – 11 this will be indicated by professional prediction relating to GCSE and Vocational Subjects grades. For Years 7-9 where students continue to study the National Curriculum, this will be shown by a threshold indicator which is linked to potential GCSE grades. There will also be a Behaviour For Learning grade identified for each student in every subject. An explanation of the criteria for each grade can be found on the reverse of your child’s report and also below.
