A strong attendance record is vitally important in ensuring that a child is able to achieve their potential.

There is a clear link between poor attendance at school and lower academic achievement. Of pupils who miss more than 50 per cent of school only 3 per cent manage to achieve five or more GCSEs at grades 9-4 including Maths and English. 73 per cent of pupils who have over 95 per cent attendance achieve five or more GCSEs at grades 9-4.

We carefully track and monitor the expected achievement of all students, but with a particular focus on key groups including those who qualify for Pupil Premium support. 

The quality of teaching and learning in the school is also subject to regular review, involving the views of our students.

Our planning continues influenced to an extent by the impact of the temporary school closures and the pandemic, with investment in identifying how to support all students in catching up missed learning.

We review our plans regularly each term. This supports our understanding of how well our strategy is working.
